Volvo's experience with DFDS Logistics

Long and successful record

The working relationship between Volvo Logistics and DFDS Logistics has a long and successful history. The partnership has developed, resultantly being able to build up a complex distribution with the use of own DFDS trucks in the Gent area simultaneously doing international transport from Volvo Logistics.

Local Distribution – Just-in-Time

In the Gent Area DFDS Logistics is running a Just-in-Time distributional network for Volvo between suppliers, distribution centers and production sites with 60 DFDS Logistics owned trucks running 24 hrs a day for a minimum of 5 days per week, supported by DFDS Logistics staff on call 24/7.

In order to produce the best operational environment for both Volvo Logistics and DFDS Logistics, all transactions in either party's supply chain system are linked via EDI or data interfaces. Subsequently all booking, track and trace, invoicing, and other activities are fully visible enabling both Volvo Logistics and DFDS to fine-tune their supply chains.

International transports 

DFDS Logistics is one of Volvo Logistics main suppliers of international transport between their respective production sites in Gothenburg and Gent.

There are significant amounts of trailers being loaded in each direction, both as normal trailer transports with RO-RO ships, transit time sensitive cargo is routed as “Rush Cargo” via the quickest possible route under close supervision of DFDS Logistics staff.
